Animal Care
A SOURCE OF BENEFICIAL PRE AND PROBIOTIC MICROORGANISMS COMBINED WITH ENZYMES FOR USE IN POULTRY NUTRITION
The poultry industry has become an important economic activity in many countries. In large-scale rearing facilities, where poultry are exposed to stressful conditions, problems related to diseases and deterioration of environmental conditions often occur and result in serious economic losses. Prevention and control of diseases have led during recent decades to a substantial increase in the
use of alternative medicines.
So, the possibility of antibiotics ceasing to be used as growth stimulants for poultry and the concern about the side-effects of their use as therapeutic agents has produced a climate in which both consumer and manufacturer are looking for alternatives. Probiotics are being considered to fill this gap and already some farmers are using them in preference to antibiotics.
Poultry DFM is a direct-fed microbial blend for all classes of birds. Birds under stress are susceptible to pathogenic invasion. Regular use of Poultry DFM floods the system with beneficial microorganisms, preventing pathogens from colonizing. Prebiotics and a selected group of natural plant extracts create a synergetic effect which stimulates and feed the native population of bacteria and enhance the birds’ natural immune response.
One of the primary purposes for including enzymes in Poultry DFM in the feed is to reduce the viscosity of digesta contributed by non-starch polysaccharides in cereals and to provide more nutrients to the birds by breaking down feed constituents that cannot be digested by the animal’s own enzymes. It is now recognized that these enzymes may also play an important role in influencing the growth of various bacteria that colonize the gastrointestinal tract of birds
